Skinny Shaming Is A Real Thing

Let's get real today, many people seem to think that skinny shaming is acceptable. Suggesting certain women really need to get a pizza or a burger and eat the whole thing it is an unacceptable joke. People only hear about fat shaming but skinny shaming is a real problem too.

Body shaming
NounThe action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size.

Don't get me wrong, I have had positive comments like I can pull of anything because I am skinny, that I could be a model and I have had girls tell me that they would kill to have my body however I have been asked how sad it is not having a big ass, I have been told that the wind will blow me away and that men do not want bones, they want curves (especially from the African community). Bones, too skinny, toothpick are just a few of the names I've been called over the years. Instead of being greeted with a typical "Hey, how are you" you often hear "you are…

The Ugly Truth About Blogging

To celebrate one year into blogging, I am going to spill the tea about blogging. I started blogging last year at the end of October and now I'm into my second year with more than 11.000 (11k) views. First of all let me thank each and everyone of you who actually takes time to read my posts and even share them, I am forever grateful.

Now allow me to spill the tea. I am going to be honest with you, blogging is not always golden filters and hot cup of coffee on marble surfaces, blogging is not easy as many people like to believe. Let's start with the tea:

1. Time consuming
So many people underestimate this about blogging. There is so much time involved when it comes to blogging. From when you get an idea to bringing that idea into life, I can't count how many times I have deleted posts in my draft just because they didn't come out the way I pictured them. It's a whole process, the research, planning, shooting, editing, posting and sharing. Once I have finished the researching and writing, I have two friends who proofread my posts and after that I reread the article and then post it.
It can all get time consuming at times, especially when blogging is not the only thing you do, trying to balance it along with other things such as University, social life etc. Sometimes you even start to feel like no matter how much time you give to this blogging thing, you are not doing enough.

2. Creativity is the key
When it comes to blogging, you have to be creative, from the content you create, to the vision or the way you pictured everything, to promoting your content, attracting your audience and last but not least building traffic. We (bloggers) are called content creators for a reason. Creativity never stops when you are a blogger and it is the key to building up followers and create a community and that is why we need to be creative, committed and consistent. Consistency is really hard especially if you have a busy schedule and don't know how to manage your time but excuses, right?!

3. Issa expensive thing
Guys, blogging is not something you can do without investing your money in it, it is not an activity with low costs, well at least if you want to produce great content and you are not doing it for fun. When I think about how much I've spent...umm let not think about it right now, but moral of story is that blogging is like any other business. You have to invest in it financially which means you will need to purchase additional hardware, such as high quality camera and additional lenses etc, paying for a domain name and the most expensive part since I am mostly a fashion and beauty blogger is buying endless clothing and makeup to create trendy new looks. Issa expensive game fam.

Now with all that being said, I love being a blogger and it is something I am passionate about. The experience has been amazing so far. I have met amazing people and the best part is that I have built a bond with you guys here, from getting your sweet comments/messages which encourages me to do my best and also meeting some of you in person. You are all amazing and I love you. I can't wait to see what is in store for us.

Xoxo, Arielle.
