Skinny Shaming Is A Real Thing

Let's get real today, many people seem to think that skinny shaming is acceptable. Suggesting certain women really need to get a pizza or a burger and eat the whole thing it is an unacceptable joke. People only hear about fat shaming but skinny shaming is a real problem too.

Body shaming
NounThe action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size.

Don't get me wrong, I have had positive comments like I can pull of anything because I am skinny, that I could be a model and I have had girls tell me that they would kill to have my body however I have been asked how sad it is not having a big ass, I have been told that the wind will blow me away and that men do not want bones, they want curves (especially from the African community). Bones, too skinny, toothpick are just a few of the names I've been called over the years. Instead of being greeted with a typical "Hey, how are you" you often hear "you are…

New Year's ̶R̶e̶s̶o̶l̶u̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s ̶ Intentions

We are still in January, technically I'm still allowed to say HAPPY NEW YEAR fam! I know I am a little late but I still made it though.
So many people have been requesting to write about the New Year Resolutions, and to be honest I didn't know what to say because I feel like it is always the same every year, but instead of resolutions we should have intentions. Yes starting New Year with a resolution has already a good intention behind it, but let’s look at what the two words mean:

a firm decision to do or not to do something.
"she kept her resolution not to see Anne anymore"

noun: intention; plural noun: intentions
·        a thing intended; an aim or plan.
"she was full of good intentions"

·       the action or fact of intending.
"intention is just one of the factors that will be considered"-

The definitions of these two words made me think for a while, wouldn’t it be more effectual if you worked on small steps towards overall self-improvements? And let be honest, most people dont get far with their New Year’s resolutions. A better way is to have an intention and repeating it every day. There are numerous things a person can desire, and being consistent for a whole year with 2 or 4 basic intentions gives a considerable chance for success because intentions don’t run into inner obstacles, they fit every personality, lifestyle and individual situation.

Personally, my intentions this year is to have a loving and compassionate heart, to have a restful and alert mind, to have a joyful body and to have lightness of being. I want to have a healthy relationship with my mind, body and soul, I want to appreciate everything in my life as much as possible and to trust the process of life, and especially when things don’t go according to plan, I trust that God got my back and even a higher plan is unfolding for the better. This year may I always rise above what pains me by forgiving my negativity and stress, forgiving others for their offences and most importantly forgiving myself for holding onto what does not serve me, like grudges, beliefs, worries and stress. With all this I intend to replace disorder, resistance and struggle with an easier way of living.

I hope and pray that you release yourself from whatever pressure you have, so you can continue and finish this new year with a feeling of joy, freedom, authenticity, hope and growth. WE GOT THIS! May this new year be filled with genuine moments of whatever you want in your life.

Xoxo, Arielle
