Skinny Shaming Is A Real Thing

Let's get real today, many people seem to think that skinny shaming is acceptable. Suggesting certain women really need to get a pizza or a burger and eat the whole thing it is an unacceptable joke. People only hear about fat shaming but skinny shaming is a real problem too.

Body shaming
NounThe action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size.

Don't get me wrong, I have had positive comments like I can pull of anything because I am skinny, that I could be a model and I have had girls tell me that they would kill to have my body however I have been asked how sad it is not having a big ass, I have been told that the wind will blow me away and that men do not want bones, they want curves (especially from the African community). Bones, too skinny, toothpick are just a few of the names I've been called over the years. Instead of being greeted with a typical "Hey, how are you" you often hear "you are…

Tie A Knot and Hang On

When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on
-Franklin D. Roosevelt
Struggles in life are inevitable but destruction is optional. I do not know who needs to hear this but we all go through some difficult time and sometimes it feels like it is the end of our world. It might be career wise, school-wise, health-wise or life-wise, sometimes you just reach a point where you feel weak, you feel like you can't any longer, you feel devastated and destroyed. You feel like you are nothing, like your life is over because everything you hoped for, your dreams, your life plan, all your years or months of hard work are wasted.
Have you ever been zoomed in on something that you completely lost yourself in it? Well, I have. In the last two months I was in a situation where something was about to be ripped from me so unexpectedly and I truly lost hope and I felt like my life was over but then I remembered who I was and where I come from and that is when everything changed.

Christianity
/krɪstɪˈanɪti/
noun
The religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ, or its beliefs and practices.
Christian quality or character.

I am a young Christian lady, I have faith in God and I believe in the power of prayers. I have been following God for most of my life, however when the situation got worse I started questioning myself. Nevertheless I couldn't just give up, I couldn't just lower my expectations and settle for whatever will come my way. I couldn't do it because there was an urgency to my situation that couldn't be denied and because I know what my God is capable of, I know he wouldn't get me this far to leave me so I wiped my tears, went down on my knees and sent my prayers up to heaven because my whole purpose in life is up there and I understood that he wanted me to learn how to serve him through disappointment because I was so disappointed.
If I didn't come through, if I didn't find the ability to go forward like before, then everything I have worked for would cease to exist. As if being in a difficult situation is not enough, there are those who speaks against us and our efforts, I thought about them, they will be happy to see me fail and I will prove them right so I couldn't just give up and let that happen. I kept praying for the strength that I needed desperately, I couldn't make it on my own I called upon the Lord my God, I told him to give me an answer and I begged him to make me feel strong again, I reminded him of all the things I have done in his name and he came through for me. Because I had faith and because he owed me for all the sacrifices I have made in his name, I got the desire of my heart. You have to give up on fear and give in to faith."Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you, he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

This is just a way of telling you to not let your trials convince you that you have been disqualified from your purpose, whatever unexpected or unfair situation you are going through serves a purpose. God has a destiny for you. The truth is you can handle any challenge life hands you, the feeling of rock button will go away when you realised how important you are, you have a purpose and God will fulfil his purpose for you and remember your battle always becomes greater when your blessings are getting closer.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declare the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13

With love,
Arielle
