Skinny Shaming Is A Real Thing

Let's get real today, many people seem to think that skinny shaming is acceptable. Suggesting certain women really need to get a pizza or a burger and eat the whole thing it is an unacceptable joke. People only hear about fat shaming but skinny shaming is a real problem too.

NounThe action or practice of humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments about their body shape or size.

Don't get me wrong, I have had positive comments like I can pull of anything because I am skinny, that I could be a model and I have had girls tell me that they would kill to have my body however I have been asked how sad it is not having a big ass, I have been told that the wind will blow me away and that men do not want bones, they want curves (especially from the African community). Bones, too skinny, toothpick are just a few of the names I've been called over the years. Instead of being greeted with a typical "Hey, how are you" you often hear "you are…

HOW ABOUT NOW HAPPINESS?

Every one of us in this world wants to be happy, we all dream of a life where we have more freedom and where we are happy. The key to happiness is to appreciate what you have at this moment, because choosing to live in the past or the future will rob you enjoyment today, it will stress you out, make you think a lot and by doing that we sabotage our own happiness. The important moment is the present moment, and with this in mind you can start living your life in the present by:

- Forgiving past hurts: Forgive and move on; I know it's easy said than done but it will help you a lot. The harm was their fault but allowing it impact your present life is your fault. We need to live more in the moment.

- Stop worrying: I used to worry too much about what is going to happen next, it really stressed me, I wasn't social anymore, I was overthinking, I was unhappy and I even lost some weight which I am trying to gain back by the way. I learnt that the most negatives thoughts concern the past or the future, what I am trying to say is that you can't appreciate today if you worry too much about tomorrow and I realized that tomorrow is going to happen whether I worry about it or not. Worrying is wasting your own time and energy so try to find something you can put that energy into, the present. Focusing on the present moment will force us to stop overthinking which is good for our mind and mood and it will help us appreciate being in the moment.

- Gratitude: accept the situation you are in without judgment, be grateful for what you have and for the person you've become. Your healthy state of being alive is an amazing gift and should be treated as it is. Feeling or being grateful and expressing gratitude to people around you will have amazing affects in your life. The more gratitude you have and express the happier your life will become. You can change lives of those people around you as well as your own by being grateful on a daily basis. Accept that who you are is enough for you and for God who gives you purpose and where you are is just temporary so enjoy the ride babes.

And hunnie dont allow negative people or situation drag you down into unhappiness.We can only live one moment at a time, so we might as well make it the present. Small things that help you appreciate the person you are, your loved ones and the world around you will add a big change in your mindset. It all sound cliché but we need to remind ourselves this every day to boost our confidence and knowing that nothing can disturb our happiness if we allow it.
