Congo To Global

Image
Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Arielle Chrisnes Sikabwe and I am originally from Goma, D.R.Congo, fille de l'Est *wink*. I wanted to write this post in French since it is about a Congolese brand and Congo is a french speaking country but then the brand is CONGO TO GLOBAL and what is more global than english.
Let me tell you a secret, I always wanted to own one of the Congo to Global clothing so I can represent my country. Whenever I saw a picture of someone wearing it on instagram I always told myself that I'd buy it, you can imagine the excitement and joy when they asked me to be their brand ambassador. This outfit is so comfy and you can wear it anywhere, for girls day out, airport outfit, when you want it casual or when you just want to relax at home. I am more of a heel person and that is why I rocked my outfits with heels, I kept it casual but classy. You can wear yours with anything, it can be sneakers, flip flops or heels just like me, it is your choice.

Tie A Knot and Hang On

Struggles in life are inevitable but destruction is optional. I do not know who needs to hear this but we all go through some difficult time and sometimes it feels like it is the end of our world. It might be career wise, school-wise, health-wise or life-wise, sometimes you just reach a point where you feel weak, you feel like you can't any longer, you feel devastated and destroyed. You feel like you are nothing, like your life is over because everything you hoped for, your dreams, your life plan, all your years or months of hard work are wasted.  Have you ever been zoomed in on something that you completely lost yourself in it? Well, I have. In the last two months I was in a situation where something was about to be ripped from me so unexpectedly and I truly lost hope and I felt like my life was over but then I remembered who I was and where I come from and that is when everything changed.

Orange and Red Leaves Season

Image
We are stepping into Autumn and that means it's time for the coats and layers. If you know me, you know Autumn is one of my favourite season of the year and my most favourite about this season is the crunch of the orange and red leaves that carpets the parks and streets, I know I am not the only one who loves this view.
It's always good to know how you can recreate different looks out of one piece and believe you me, coats are a worth while investment. You can wear it with anything from your evening dress to pants, skirts, you name it.

However I always find it difficult to dress for the season because of the fear of rain coming along and ruining my look but could a hat fix it? or do I just need an umbrella? Will it be too hot for a scarf and how will it look with whatever I choose to wear. So basically Autumn is here to test our fashion ability and I believe, to pass the test we need coats, jumpers and boots in our wardrobe, they are a must have for this season.

3 in 1 Kitenge Outfit

Image
Autumn is one my favorite season of year, especially the beginning of the season when the temperatures are cooler and the sun is less intense. Transitional season like autumn is the best time to wear trench coats, however lately I have been obsessed with Kitenge/Ankara therefore I am trying to adjust the style to this season.

The best part of this outfit is that I can wear it three different ways. You can wear the blazer and pants together, or you can choose to wear the pants with a white shirt and to complete the look, add a scarf and a belt; this look was inspired by Jennifer Oseh or @theladyvhodka on instagram.

The third way to wear this outfit is to wear the blazer with your favorite pair of jeans, top it with your favorite accessories and own it. Keep scrolling down for outfit details and more.

Current Read: African Women In Europe

Image
This book is a celebration of the empowered African women living, working and running a business in Europe. It is written by African women to share their stories and teachings with the whole world. One of my friends got the opportunity to share her story, and to support her I bought the book. Let me just say I am glad I did because this book is everything, it is a fact. Everyone needs this book, not just African women in Europe but anyone from any country around the whole world. Most of us have a go-to bag, a go-to pair of shoes or even a go-to song, personally I think this book should be a go-to book.

The one thing all the writers of this book describe is the hardship of being able to "make it" in life or in this case in Europe and it takes a lot of growing and self awareness to overcome the fears and the feeling of not belonging to allow yourself to fly. "There is nothing that is impossible and nothing is beyond our potential. The only thing that prevents us from ach…

Truth Be Told

Image
Matching couples attire is a lovely way people show that they are in a loving and romantic relationship and for those who do not know, we are wearing Ankara or Kitenge (as we call it in my language) outfits. Kitenge is one of the most loved fabrics for most African women and men if not all of them, which is not surprising that Kitenge style for couples is becoming more popular nowadays, let’s be honest Kitenge is taking over. There is almost nothing cuter than a couple that dresses in matching outfits, it's worn by lovers and connected with love. Are you going out for a date or an event with your significant other? His and hers Kitenge outfit can never go wrong, trust me.

I know you have questions regarding the man in these pictures and to answer your question, yes this is BAE, my Champ (because he is a champion in my eyes), the one who is so right for me, he is the one God blessed me with, he’s the Mr to my Mrs and I can confidently say that he is a total keeper.
When and how yo…
